"I have been attending Shauna's Yin Yoga classes for almost two years. She is a wonderful yoga instructor that makes everyone feel welcome, regardless of their yoga knowledge, ability, or flexibility! Shauna ensures that everyone gets the most out of class by adapting poses to suit various individual capabilities. She is a genuinely lovely person that creates a yoga practice environment of kindness,  acceptance, and peacefulness. If you want the best of both; knowledgeable instructor and great personality, then I definitely recommend any yoga class with Shauna!"

Give yourself a meno-PAUSE: Self care for women in Midlife!

The Foothills Wellness Retreat and Shauna Laubman welcomes you to spend the afternoon at the

De Winton Community Hall; a hidden jewel in the rural Calgary countryside. This unique retreat was designed to bring our community together, to connect in a learning environment, and nourish the mind, body, and soul. Hormonal changes in women during the transition of perimenopause and menopause can often impact well-being and quality of life. Often misunderstood, it affects women in their mid-30’s and lasts usually until their 50’s and beyond. This self care retreat will provide education and discussion about perimenopause and menopause symptoms, hormone balancing yoga, breath work, energy movement, relaxation, nutrition and authentic discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to relax, renew, and realize how self care can impact their well-being during midlife.

Midlife Wellness

Hi there! Let me introduce myself. My name is Shauna Laubman, a 53-year-old individual navigating the challenges and opportunities of midlife every day, with a commitment to self-empowerment. My expertise lies in education, guidance, and empowerment. Alongside my role as a high school teacher, a profession deeply rooted in my family's history of educators, I am also a dedicated yoga and pilates instructor with 11 years of experience. Movement has always been integral to my identity, stemming from my lifelong passion for dance and fitness.

As a lifelong dancer and fitness enthusiast, my soul finds its brightest moments in motion. I embrace various movement modalities, with a special passion for restorative yoga. In this practice, I aim to co-create a space for healing, relaxation, renewal, and connection. Transitioning into midlife and embracing the role of a Nana, I've recognized a gap in discussions surrounding hormonal changes during this phase. This realization led to the creation of Midlife Wellness Yoga—a platform designed to support graceful aging with power and a strong voice.

Beyond my yoga endeavors, I continue to make a positive impact as a high school teacher, striving to influence the lives of my students. Some of my favorite activities include walking, hiking, gardening, and relishing the outdoors, particularly in Baja, Mexico. As a proud mother of two grown children and a Nana to a beautiful baby, motherhood remains one of my most cherished and rewarding accomplishments.

I've chosen to reside in rural Alberta with my partner, Steven, and our dog Luna.
